OSCE
Dreaming of a nursing career in New Zealand? From 2024 onwards, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) requires internationally qualified nurses to successfully complete both an online theoretical examination and a clinical competence assessment called the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) to register and practice.
Your journey begins with an online theoretical examination, which you can conveniently complete from a Pearson Vue accredited center in your home country. Once you’ve successfully cleared this, the NCNZ will send you an invitation to attend the OSCE. You’ll have an 18-month window from the invitation date to complete the OSCE. It’s crucial to succeed within this timeframe and a maximum of three attempts; otherwise, your application for registration will close, requiring you to restart the entire process. In exceptional circumstances, you may be eligible for an extension by contacting your NCNZ case manager.
The OSCE itself is a 3-hour clinical examination comprising 10 stations or scenarios, held at the Nurse Maude Simulation and Assessment Centre in Christchurch.
Flyworld is a leading consultancy in New Zealand nurse assessment exam training in India. Our initial clients successfully cleared the exam in June 2024, a testament to our effective training approach.
To ensure our clients receive the best preparation, we offer a comprehensive program that includes:
- Blended Learning: 25 days of combined online and offline training.
- Online Sessions: 20 days of virtual instruction.
- Practical Lab Sessions: 5 days of hands-on experience at our well-equipped lab facility in Kochi
- New Batches: Starting every month.
At Flyworld, our qualified trainers possess extensive experience in OSCE training, and we provide unwavering support to our clients right up to their exam day. We also have a strong base in New Zealand.
For nurses outside the European Economic Area aiming to work in the UK, clearing a competence test is essential for registration with the UK NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council). This test comprises two parts:
- Part 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT): This can be taken at a Pearson Vue test center in your home country. The CBT is divided into Part A (Numeracy) and Part B (Clinical questions).
- Part 2: OSCE: This clinical examination is available only in the UK at designated test centers.
The registration process begins with an online application on the UK NMC website. Once the NMC confirms your eligibility, you can book your CBT. The OSCE consists of 10 stations: four linked APIE (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) stations, four skills stations (two pairs of two skills), and two stations assessing values, behaviors, and evidence-based practice.
Flyworld offers a top-notch training facility to help you clear the UK competency test. Our qualified trainers have many years of experience in this area. Our exclusive training includes updated and detailed preparatory materials, flexible training schedules, and access to a learning app for practicing questions. For the OSCE, we have a well-equipped lab in Kochi, where we provide hands-on experience, live demonstrations, and scenario-based practice through both online and offline classes. International nurses aspiring to work in Australia must apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and secure a visa. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) verifies international nurse applications. Most internationally qualified nurses (IQN) from developing countries fall under Stream B, requiring them to successfully complete the NCLEX-RN (MCQ exam) and the OSCE for registration.
Once your profile is approved by AHPRA, your IQN dashboard will indicate your eligibility to apply for the NCLEX-RN, delivered via Pearson Vue centers globally. After clearing the NCLEX-RN, your dashboard will confirm your eligibility for the OSCE. The NMBA and AHPRA currently schedule the OSCE five times a year in Adelaide, and candidates will encounter 10 clinical stations or scenarios.
Flyworld offers excellent training to help nurses clear these competency tests, paving the way for an international career. Our training facility in Cochin, Kerala, features a state-of-the-art lab dedicated to OSCE training. We impart hands-on experience, live demonstrations, and scenario-based practice through online and offline classes. With expert guidance and well-structured practice sessions, our center ensures that nurses are fully prepared to meet Australian nursing standards.
